Get InvolvedOpen Opera remains undaunted by its ambitious mission: to bring free, professional opera to Bay Area parks and use public space to build community through the arts. As arts organizations close their doors, Open Opera provides opportunity to the growing body of Bay Area-based opera singers and allows you and your family and friends to enjoy fabulous music under the open sky. Generous donations of time, money, enthusiasm, and talent have allowed Open Opera to expand from its first exploratory concert in Fall 2008 to a six month season - including the fully staged Figaro - in 2009. Made up of musicians, singers, directors, conductors, dancers, and designers, Open Opera depends on your gifts to create and share free, public performances of the most beautiful music we know. Whether you can contribute an old car or an old chair to use on stage; whether you would like to sew, cook, or could underwrite a favorite operatic role, Open Opera appreciates a donation of any amount or kind. No donation is too modest. You can help just by attending a performance and spreading the word. To produce its 2009-2010 season, Open Opera needs: photographers, videographers, ushers, social media mavens, opera-loving muscle men, envelope stuffers, a patron or two, costumes, lights, a sound system, mixing board operator, grant writers, production designers, apprentices, understudies, volunteer event producers, Adobe Illustrator CS 4, graphic designers, stage managers, cookie bakers, and some red balloons. Open Opera is a program of the Vocal Arts Institute (68-0339528), a non-profit California corporation formed under Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3) and dedicated to promoting the vocal arts and opera performance. All donations are fully deductible to the extent allowed by law. Please make your donations payable to "Vocal Arts Institute" and indicate that Open Opera is the recipient of the donation. We accept credit cards via PayPal™ and checks via mail. Please note that your personal information will be kept confidential and will be stored on a secure server.
